The Dow [.DJIA  Loading...      ()   ] crossed above 10,000 today for the first time in over a year.  10 years ago, the Dow closed above 10,000 for the first time on March 29, 1999. • GE [GE  Loading...      ()   ] was also bigger then than Exxon is today and has lost more than 50% of its market cap in the past 10 years
  • Wal-Mart [WMT  Loading...      ()   ] remains in the #3 slot with roughly the same market cap
  • Google [GOOG  Loading...      ()   ], JP Morgan Chase (was two companies in 1999) [JPM  Loading...      ()   ], and Apple [AAPL  Loading...      ()   ] are now in the top 10 market caps but were not even on the list in 1999
